Sandblasting glass and sandblast equipment

Sandblasting is profession and as all professions it requires few equipments.

Different equipment helps us to do different jobs and to have wider varieties of possibilities and options with same.

For example, different nozzles are use for different jobs. Smaller diameter nozzles are used for more precise job, but it will be stupid to sandblast big areas with same small nozzle.

Media works the same. Smaller the grain more abrasive the grain. So working with small grains will strip paint, but it will also damage surface a bit where bigger grains are useless for removing coating of paint.

Sandblasting machine is similar. Portable is smaller but well, portable where cabinets are stationary but have more power and more pressure.

Sandblasting glass is used in many ways. Result are nice patterns which make  that glass look a lot better.

But how do you make those patterns, and even more important, how do you know which part of glass you want to sandblast?
You can use sandblasting to etch the glass. For start, use some old glass to practice with so you get the felling out of it.
Take some vinyl adhesive and apply it to sand. Be extra careful not to leave any air bubbles. And keep in mind that after process is done you will have to remove it.

Then you lay glass on design you will have at end. Be smart and use black and white image since it’s easiest to use. Then cut around edges where black meet white. Now peel vinyl from the area you want it to be etched.

Sandblasting glass is now nearly done Just etch the areas, peel the remaining vinyl and the job is done.

Sandblaster, also known as sandblasting machine is used for sandblasting.

There are few types of it, main difference is size. Smaller sandblaster is most commonly used in field because it’s easy to transport from one place to another. These are used for all types of sandblasting, from sandblasting glass all the way up to  ships when they are renewed and repainted.  Smaller sandblaster has less sand in it and also nozzle is smaller.

Then you have big sandblaster which is stationary, you order it and they deliver and place it, normally where your firm is. They are also known as heavy-duty blasting cabinet cause if it’s size. Bigger sandblaster has a lot more sand in it and also bigger nozzles.
In the end, there are many different types of sandblasters, which one will you buy is based on your needs, budget and place in your firm. For example, if you want sandblasting glass you will never need bigger sandblaster, but if you want to sandblast big components you will need just to much time to sandblast it with small sandblaster that is why you will use bigger.
