About sandblasted signs

Sandblasted signs

No doubt you have seen those amazing signs and wondered how they were done and whether they were expensive. Pictured above is one of those sandblasted signs, which are gaining popularity for two reasons – they look great and they aren’t that expensive. Exactly what are those sandblasted signs and how are they made? Let’s look at that briefly.

Sandblasted glassPictured above is an artist performing the sandblasting glass process. That is the “secret” behind those amazing sandblasted glass signs and wooden signs. The processes for sandblasted glass signs and wooden signs are basically the same, so let’s see how glass signs are made. First, the design is made and a mask is carved out (typically rubber). This mask is then placed onto glass panel, then the artist uses sandblasting machine on glass. The abrasive sand is bounced off rubber mask, so only exposed glass is affected. Finally the mask is removed and a beautiful glass art is revealed. Minor corrections are done and finish is applied (painting, protective finishing for wooden signs).

This method allows for elaborate designs, which are typically created in digital environment and then applied by sandblasting. The design is very flexible, only limited by creativity and the thickness of sandblasted glass or wooden panel, allowing for complex and amazing sandblasted signs. The method is also cheaper to alternative sign making methods, making it by far the most preferable method, at least for non-flat signs. If you desire an elaborate sign with depth, sandblasted signs are ideal.  Especially sandblasted glass signs are popular, as they can be mounted into doors or windows, saving on space. The first thing your customer sees when he enters your business is the sandblasted sign, which leaves a good impression. Why settle for cheap, flat signs when you can have a masterpiece that you can be proud of?
